Our Roots
Rusty Ace started with two teammates, Shane Porter from Texas and Trey Krause from Kansas, who met playing football at Kansas State.
Back then, we were just two broke college kids who loved hats but couldn't justify spending $40-$50 every time we wanted a new one. We always talked about how we wished there was a brand making quality hats at a fair price.
So eventually, we decided to build it ourselves.
We wanted Rusty Ace to feel like home. Hunting, being outdoors, long days with good friends, cold beers, and the Southern and Midwest roots that made us who we are. No crazy markups. No trying to be something we're not. Just quality hats, original designs, and a brand we're proud to put our name behind.
What started as an idea between two college teammates became Rusty Ace Outfitters.

Shane Porter
Co-Founder · Texas Native
Grew up in Texas and went on to play college football at Kansas State University and the University of North Texas before co-founding Rusty Ace Outfitters. When Shane isn't designing hats or packing orders, you can usually find him in the woods hunting or out on the golf course.
Trey Krause
Co-Founder · Kansas Native
Grew up in Olathe, Kansas and played college football at Kansas State University, where he met Shane, before earning his MBA at Bryant University. The two later went on to co-found Rusty Ace Outfitters. When Trey isn't working on the brand, you can usually find him in the gym, out hunting, or doing just about anything that keeps him active.
